This program lasts for a year before the Ph.D. formally enters the academic job market. The IPFP was formulated in 2009 and underwent its most recent revision in 2019. Helping current Ph. D.s develop the skills and character traits necessary for successful academic careers in teaching, research, and administration is the program’s primary goal.

Eligibility Criteria for HEC Interim Placement Program 2023
The IPFP Phase-II (Batch·lV) programme accepts applications from students in all academic fields for its interim placement of fresh PhDs (IPFP) programme. The IPFP programme was established by the Higher Education Commission Pakistan to provide first-year PhD students with the chance to gain academic experience and guidance from faculty members at (HEls), postgraduate colleges run by the federal or provincial governments, or research and development organisations in the public sector. This programme will prepare these students for their formal academic job market entry.
How to Apply
- Please submit your application for IPFP Phase-II (Batch-IV) through the HEC e-portal by January 26, 2024: https://eportal.hec.gov.pk/ipfp.
- Scanned copies of doctoral degrees attested by the HEC or certificates of equivalence issued by the HEC Equivalence Cell should be uploaded.
- Send PKR 3,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) via online deposit slip or ATM transfer to cover the application processing fee. Please send it to Habib Bank Limited, Attention: Director General of Finance, HEC, at account number 1742 79001334-01.
- Include all necessary supporting documents with your printed application, including photocopies, and send it in with the original deposit slip.
- Eligible candidates will have the incredible opportunity to attend the National Faculty Development Programme (NFDP) for free for one month, where they will work with a team of nationally and internationally renowned trainers.
- Professional development opportunities: During the fellowship, eligible candidates who complete the NFDP will have access to various online activities suggested by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) that will help them build their capacity.
- Successful applicants will have the opportunity to spend a year at HEC as an IPFP fellow, thanks to HEC’s efforts in introducing them to the institution.
- A faculty mentor will teach the IPFP Fellows at the host universities as part of the mentorship programme.
